Is It Frivolous To Be Silly

Is it frivolous to be silly?
Slinging pure lively giddy into a lamp post pile,
laughing in a joyful eager way?

Is it foolish to play as if tonight might be
the last night you can ever play with
these people, or in this spot?

Is it trivial to fricassee words, frying them up
into lively funny limericks or poetic sentences,
trying to amuse or encourage others?

Obviously, I think not.

I am so glad; it is what I do best and on a semi-regular basis.

Right! At work when I ask the kids to tell the new kids what a school counselor does invariably one will say "she has to be funny" and the whole staff rolls their eyes.

I love everything about your poem, Caren, from the amazing title to the clever creative poetic lines. The use of the word ‘frivolous’ just makes my day as does your great last line for a fantastic finale. Your poem makes my heart happy my dear friend. Warmest wishes always.. ~Susan
