Is God Talking

Will God talk? Can we get Him to confess? We can't hold Him like an ordinary prisoner. We can't interrogate Him, and if we ask politely, will He answer? We whisper our prayers, sweet desperate nothings-- He hears them, we know He hears... but does He listen? Does He lick our souls like a dog a face? Will He pat us ever so gently, or give us that nudge we need? He is at our shoulders, in front of our faces, breathing softly, softly on our bared necks. Do we wait or do we create?
