IRONY OF TIME
I know some basic maths
and a little physics,
but I chose an easier road—
to teach English and learn literature.
Yes, I know about irony:
how we measure speed
with time and distance,
yet time itself can move fast.
Fast, even while standing still,
seated in a room full of bodies,
yet noticing nobody
as minutes quietly escape.
How do we measure time
without distance or speed,
but with thoughts and cries,
with hopes and promises?
How can time cause so much—
stress for being late,
joy for being right on it?
That is the nature of time.
Money cannot buy time,
nor purchase it back.
So how do we dream of staying young
and forget the irony of time?
