Irony

My lips white I wilt beneath the gaze Of the tyrant standing before me With freedom on his lips He wraps me in chains And silences my very thought So I chew my lip Until blood drips off of my chin Just one last act of defiance Because I rolled with the circumstance And I'm a born villain as a result As I never lifted a finger to fight back It was only in the twilight of rebellion It was only as everything went dark That I was blessed with the light of clarity My inaction led to this moment To this twisted tapestry that's quite a travesty It was only when my freedoms were stolen That I became liberated from my own chains If only I had realized sooner Perhaps my grand revelation would have helped And as the world goes black at last My ineptness fades into the pages of history
