Invisible

I've known for a long time who I was
Invisible
But not to the whole world
But to people who I thought knew me
I am constantly shut out
Constantly not seen
A title not bestowed upon me
They are them and I am me
Invisible
But I shall smile and I shall laugh
Because they don't understand
It's hard to be me when I am trapped
They have been released from their chains
But mine shall remain until I'm free
And I have to wait for freedom
Because they don't know my captors
I'm invisible
They don't bother to ask
They probably don't care
But I'm still there for them
I talk to them
I listen to them
But when it comes to me
I'm invisible
And I wish I could appear
But if that's not possible
Then maybe one day I'll leave
