Intro To Goodbye

He’s a man with attitude that lived within his song
provoked an insatiable howlin’
whenever sensually his body moved along,
his world once shackled to Rock ‘n’ Roll
now just a shuffle of shakin’ bones,
this the last time he’ll string his guitar
a faithful friend who followed him here near and far.

Soon his final hour to holler a rhythmic tune
to thousands that bought a ticket
he knows he’s battling a sticky wicket,
yet with time to reminisce,
admits to a sordid life of sin
forgot what God had given to him,
when over here he claims
they were on different sides.

His home though is a callin’
across many sunsets so many tides
as for the last time his finger slides he cries
‘Oh, Babe I could spend a life time with you
But only you know what that would do!’

great verse ... "sticky wicket" and all. Had been deprived on that metaphor here in Football crazy Virginia. Music - Makers are prophets, too. shalom, shalom

You present a compelling description of this musician, Harry. A very deep and moving poem. The first part had me thinking of Elvis Presley, but there are so many great talents who have passed - John Lennon and Michael Jackson included. Beautifully written! Love, Carolyn
