Intoxication of Spring
Our senses are reawakened
to the promise of spring
with its carpet of rolling green
hills dotted with the flowers of
the new season;
winter is gone, taking its frosty
entrouge of snow, carelessly cold
temperatures and biting arctic winds.
Earth thaws to the welcoming presence of
spring who unravels her verdant magic
by covering its unclothed ground with
virgin meadows bathed by the rain
and dried by the sun;
the presence of warmer days illuminates
the romantic spirit by making hearts sing
with more fervor, enticing souls for
the ritual mating dance.
Intoxicating all who witness the change,
spring mists the air with the scents of
new earth which gives hope for the living,
a renewal of birth, a recleansing
and thawing of the mind;
opening doors that were closed for
winter, allowing the resurgence to
breath its spring air.
