Intense

She caught my gaze
But she broke away
The intensity in my eyes
Catching her by surprise
More in a stare
Than in any words I spoke
But how could I feel
And how could I hope to heal
I loved her
And just once
I want to catch her gaze
Because I won't break away
With a matching intensity in my eyes
May there be no surprise
Instead I silently wonder
And dream of things that will never be
Because I can't make them happen
So every interaction
That leads to love
Exists only in my fantasy
But I wonder
If when she looks in my eyes
She sees past the lies my lips speak
Because I can't see past
The joy her eyes fill my soul with
And it's intense
How much I can feel
In my imagination
