Instead of Going
By Fatmir Terziu
Bird of my heart, come
Sing with me the melodies of old love
Take away my longing for the first hours of kissing…
I return to you the moist breath beneath the marble
Over a bouquet of flowers, quiet without a sound
Away from the footsteps of flat heels
Away from the temperamental wrinkly-leaved Willow…
Longed for bird, come
Alarm my whole presence, light in the air
Weave your warmest shield of protection
And…
Together we will meet again up there among the stars
Over the snow-like clouds in their passing vibrations
Away from those evil and overused whispers
Away from the failed gathering of owls…
Bird, flying soul, come
Stop on my tired and sleepy arm
As we waltz our 20-year-old waltz
As a result you retake me to where life should have begun
Under the rapid Friday flow
Near our former quiet dreams
Near this new day with night inside it.
Bird of my everything, come
Sing our favourite song
So as we forget that pain at least tonight
Take me to where the lines lead
Where life never gets old
Where the doorsteps themselves are forgotten
Where there is only morning
…Where you stand by me full of joy…
Bird of my heart, fly
Sing me the melodies of the old love
Take away my longing for the first hours of kissing and…
I return to you the moist breath beneath the marble
Over a bouquet of flowers, quiet without a sound
Away from the crawling among earth-tears
Away from that paranoid weather…
