Inspiration Cove

There's a spot on the coast
That's so close to the sea
It's the spot I love most
Just the sand, surf, and me

I stumbled on this nook
And sat down in my chair
I fumbled through a book
Then tossed it in the air

Beneath a coral shell
The setting sun had crept
My tears were hard to quell
I tried, but I just wept

A heaven just for one
How can you beat this view
A vision just begun
For just the privileged few

A lovely, heartfelt coastal lyric. The simple alternating rhyme and steady quatrains give it an unforced, wave-like flow, while the intimate details—chair, book, coral shell, tears—make the sunset scene feel deeply personal. The closing sense of private gratitude is especially moving.
