Inspiration

Can hit like a hammer or cut like a knife,
emerge from the mind or even real life,
might sneak upon you on soft kitten paw,
or leave your insides all beaten and raw;
might slip in the room like gossamer ghost,
could crash into you like some foreign host;
jump in your brain, complete as a dream,
or tiniest scrap from some Facebook meme;
a silvery sunset or quivering rainbow,
some shocking event or depressive blow;
but I like it best when a poet friend’s line,
inspires me to write something sublime.

It is truly a gift. It's the same for me. I can only write when emotion is involved, not to order. I love this poem.

Thanks. I get inspiration in little bunches, it seems.

Ahh, I love this and can relate especially to those last two lines. I love how as writers we can be inspired by other writers and vice versa.

Inspiration is everywhere. I often get ideas from others' work. Rotten bananas are floating around in my head, but not sure if anything will come of it.

I really like your style of poetry. It flows wonderful and creates great imagery. Of course it is a 7 for me!

Thank you for your kind post. I often enjoy the lyrical humorous ones, at least I try. And for someone to say one of my poems flowed, makes me smile indeed.
