Insomnia

Take one more pill as time stands still In another sleepless night Why go to bed to toss and turn It’s another winless fight You hear the tick and every click The clock makes by your head You can’t close your eyes to fall asleep And your body feels half dead You try your best but, you can’t rest And daylights on its way You go to work barely alive But you make it one more day Why lay down when every sound Comes ringing through your head You’re on the chair now the couch But never in your bed

This is me every night it seems. I struggle with insomnia. I can empathize oddly. Great job! I will be commenting on all of your poems - that's my goal before I sleep if insomnia can be pushed aside that is. Heh. Well, have a wonderful week and hang in there. :D You are a good poet.

I can relate, Steve. Apparently, it's one of the negative aspects of growing old. But I do have a partial solution. I leave my bed, go to the living room, prop myself up with pillows on the couch, and read. We take advantage of our library for books. Read poetry, read your bible, and read books. It takes your mind off your own situation, and allows another nap.

I hope that insomnia is not the norm for you. If it is, there is hope. It could be that you are suffering from depression, bipolar, or SAD either of which can be treated. I liked the expressive wording in your poem. Sara
