Insomnia
Insomnia
As I lay awake, enveloped in the darkness that fills this room
Praying for sleep, not to forsake me, lost in frustration and gloom
We are the ones, in our silent world, sleep avails, so very far away
While others peacefully snore away, we again see the light of day
We continue on, always wondering, what is truly wrong with us
So strange to feel envy of rest, relaxation we somehow mistrust
So tired, all the time, though many cannot truly understand
Just relax, is what they say, not knowing what we withstand
For those, who sleep peacefully at night, you truly have a gift
For us, the ones that lay alone, are so lost within the abyss
These words, feel our dismay, not something we can outgrow
Try to understand, feel the anguish that we have grown to know
If only for one night may I find blissful, still, tranquil sleep
To feel that contentment, dreaming in a realm oh so deep
I dedicate this to all of you, who are often still awake
For I am here with you, till daybreak, exhaustion overtakes
