INNOCENSE OF FIREWORKS

Adult days keep rolling faster.
We attribute this to aging,
but it’s routine, firm as plaster,
that induces each years fading.
Adult responsibility
eliminates most mystery.
We don’t absorb what happens next
when we’ve memorized each day’s text.

But there is the joy of fireworks,
those spontaneous dreamworks,
where our free inner child still lurks
and adult brains forego their works.
We find awe, glee and excitement
are not feelings left behind us.
Vibrant bursts grow our amazement,
color pops our gushing gazement.

The joy in all we do not know
(what follows next, when will it end),
gives grown senses a childlike glow
and then, oh yes, then, time does bend.

Escape from reality, CayCay, I like your interpretation of the theme. At work I watch fireworks (at a distance) several times a night. Its easy to get lost in them.

A unique twist, .....taking this to our inner child. I love this one, Caycay...and it is so true. How nothing compared to the excitement we felt as children watching the night sky explode. Nicely done!

I love where you took this theme, CayCay. Yes, no matter how old we are, those mesmerizing visions of brilliant and sparkling colors enthrall us and we feel childlike again. Best wishes for the contest. 7 Hugs, Sandra

wow, you really captured that childlike feeling that we get when we see fireworks even when we have seen them a million times before. it's so cool that we can still feel that way. VERY good idea for the contest, my dear friend.
