innocence snuffed on a whim a thing of beauty smothered wilted the little angel become a target for bullies in a world devoid of compassion of kindness of empathy of hugs of bedtime stories in a cold world the cycle of apathy perpetuated AP: 3rd place 2020 Posted on August 21, 2020

Cruelty knows no bounds these days. 'There oughta be a law' comes into play these days, methinks -- all the more ironically in this craziness of 'defund the police, 'empty the jails,' and other ludicrous chants the media glorifies. (E.g., a rally of just 100 people calling to defund the police makes news headlines in the Chicago print and voice media today... Chicago's metro area is 9 million people. 100 people chanting this tired refrain isn't really worth the media's time, is it?!). :) gw

There is way too much apathy, indifference, injustice and cruelty in the world ~ all the more reason to appreciate kindnesses that come our way or better yet, do our best to emit kindness every chance we get.
