Inner Mind

I walked through the blue door and into the light. It all seemed so strange, it must have been night. I looked around and saw the shadows, and felt the groping hands. I pushed away and stumbled through into the spiral bands. The spinning waves pushed me back, but I forced my way on through. I kicked and clawed and punched my way because that's all I knew. Once inside I looked around and saw that I was alone. Then from a corner of the room arose an anguished moan. I moved across the shadowed room to get a better look. But what I saw pierced my heart like a jagged hook. It wasn't a stranger that I saw crouching on the floor. It was the face that looks back at me from the mirrored door. I should have realized sooner what it was I'd find. Because I'd only taken a trip into my inner mind.
