Inner Child Shouts

Your wild inner child is obviously broken
Despite big smile your words when spoken
Seem to bleed from lack of something
Could it be a dream or just a need to scream

You tell stories of never being allowed
The little things of past precious child
You feel you raised siblings at home
While still a child when days were long

Your body grew into womanhood
But it’s true your inner child stood
Stuck in time in limbo as little kid
Life wasn’t simple and you did

Eventually fall in love with a teen
Who for you bore kids despite dream
To be an artist and be so esteemed
You’re trapped by life you want things

The little kid inside wasn’t ready to be
A mother a wife as destiny winds sing
Perhaps next lifetime you will find
All your hopes and dreams in time

Such a pity how the inner child was left behind in the short, nasty episode that life sometimes is. All too relatable. Nice penning, Karen! :) gw

Sigh, goshhh.. this feels like a true bleed .. such deep emotions you've stirred within every line.. every stanza! When life throws responsibilities and burdensome traumas, without ever letting the inner child feel the love, grow and heal.. hmmm.. really made my eyes teary.. being frozen in time! And left bereft of the kind of emotional understanding as well as soothe that the soul needs! So evocatively you've woven this..dear Karen.. sending you poetic warmth and healing starsz, hugsz 🌙🍁💫⭐

Karen your lovely poem explores deep and personal themes about growing up too fast and the yearning to fulfill dreams. It conveys both longing and reflection, which resonates emotionally. The imagery of an inner child caught in a limbo state is powerful. A heartfelt piece with a strong emotional core.

Dear Karen, it doesn't pull any punches about how heavy early responsibility can be. I think that the second and third stanzas really capture the core problem, being forced to grow up way too fast to raise everybody else, only to find your own emotional growth got frozen in time. I like that it’s empathetic without getting overly sappy, O' that "trapped" feeling so many people carry around while trying to keep up a brave face. Heavy, but very real my friend. Blessings, Daniel
