Inner Child

Behind this wrinkled face
a little girl brings Grace.

Beneath this head of gray
she'll peek out to play.

As we slowly walk along
she sings a childhood song.

Within the mirror
her eyes shine bright and clear.

No matter how old I grow
her spirit holds a soft glow

for God gave me hope again
when Inner Love became my friend.

We laugh and swing, have fun
especially with visits from my grandson.

Child-like innocence so free
this Love lives inside of me.

I hold her little hands and trust
that Love will outlast our dust.

I love this poem as I too can still see and feel my inner child so closely. Sometimes I look in the mirror and just can't believe I'm looking at my own image until I look past the changes that the years have brought and see that the child I used to be is still there, and just playing peek-a-boo with me :) Beautiful poem!

Grandkids are special. We need to enjoy every moment we have. They, too, grow too fast. God Bless. Vince

Oh, this is lovely Sue. Beautifully written. I adore the art in line two, what a precious picture of growing old gracefully. Love, Nigel

Sue, I can literally see her. And, I do believe, too, that Love will outlast our dust. Beautiful poem. Love, Donna

Aww Sue, this is just beautiful. Your loving spirit will surely outlast it's body's end. Whatever you believe, remember energy cannot die just change, and you are there forever in at least someone's heart, undoubtedly in many. We must always embrace our inner child, and I just love how this write shows how you do. Touches me deeply. Love, Shar

The inner child still lingers in us all and without a minute notice the child will appear. You wrote it well my friend.
