Notes About The Poem

Inkwell of Traipsing Thoughts

Lithesome lines of rapturous rhymes and torrid truths,
Written with piteous pleas and tantalized tease;
Left to others' wits to be interpretive sleuths
Of our loves, lusts, confessional musts and envies.

Rhythm ripping or cadence caressing penned words,
Weeping a caustic choice or singing a heart's rejoice;
Gathered in silken sentiments or stampeding herds
Inkwell of traipsing thoughts etched in poetic voice.

I can't imagine anyone feeling deeply and not wanting to write about it. When I read letters from the Victorian era, the beautiful penmanship and thought, I wish for a time machine. Thank God for Poetry Soup! Marvelous writing, Susan!

I'm in complete agreement with you Joe. Letter writing, especially from the Victorian era, and penmanship are lost arts. Thank God the art of poetry still lives and breathes.. Thank you Joe, for your enjoyable and thoughtful comments and for the delight of your lovely visit. Warmest wishes. ~Susan

Such beautiful strokes from your creative and eager mind. I am impressed with your poem and, on a side note, frustrated that I can't find my 'bookmark' as placed within your poem list for my reading. I think this poem is 'my spot.' You set a high bar, yepper. I find myself longing for old fashioned, mailed, love letters, both scented and aged. Hugs ... CayCay

CayCay, your beautiful comment uplifts and warms my heart and brightens the smile on my face. To know that you enjoyed my poem pleases me immensely and I thank you for sharing you precious thoughts with me. Funny, I was thinking about the same thing the other day; letter writing - I remember the feelings of anticipation and excitement of getting a letter in the mail from a love far away. Oh the good ole days. Hugs and warm wishes.~Susan

Idle thoughts written down in beautiful poetic fashion, Susan. Your choice of words/phrases, together with the sprinkling of alliteration and internal rhyme contribute to your usual high standards. ~ Warm regards // paul

Such smooth cadence and flowing rhymes! Strewn with well-turned phrases like "cadence caressing penned words", "silken sentiments" and, my favorite, "stampeding herds". A textured, delightful ode to poetry, Susan :)
