Inheritance From My Father

Inheritance from My Father It is with grateful heart I traverse this way, For the respects I wish to pay, To my Daddy who lived his whole life with attitude, But it is for those aspects of him that I feel the deepest gratitude, His loud and brash personality, A man with a low tolerance for foolery, Not afraid to call you out on on your deeds, if he did not agree Never afraid to stand alone As he gave voice to what mattered, Always in favor of the underdog. His love of all this music has been passed to me His jaunts on the trombone, melodies on the sax or harmonica, some of which I never appreciated until I came of age Herein lay the man whose creativity knew no bounds From jouvert portrayals to carnival bands right to the gastronomic creations weaved in the kitchen Some of which he shared with the community All testimony to his spirit of entrepreneurship I can only love and show this deep appreciation for the man who now resides as part of me and my creativity. The things handed down to me, Much of which I did not ask for and took some time for me to explore but for now I cherish the things that make me proud and even allows me to stand out in the crowd My inheritance that maketh me rich For which there will be no switch
