Infectious Greed
They were one greedy couple,
they loved dipping their hands in the money pot
They loved putting in only a little,
and they really liked taking out a lot
They liked the social status
of hanging out with the holy crew
Kicking it, rubbing elbows with the righteous,
emboldened them as their hypocrisy grew
On a certain day,
the holy congregation came together
and put everything they had into the pot
But the greedy couple got slick,
and secretly agreed to leave a large portion out
The thing they didn't realize
is that God knows the heart
You can trick man easily,
but God sees through the dark
When the church leaders called the man,
and asked what price did he sell the land
The greedy man said such and such,
and though it ain't much, I give it all to God
The leaders said since you lied to the Holy Ghost,
the feet you hear are coming to bury your soul
And the greedy man died because he lied
to God
Next, the church leaders called the woman,
and asked what price did she sell the land
The greedy woman said such and such,
and though it ain't much, I give it all to God
The church elders declared that's what her husband said
before he gave up the ghost, and got put in an earthen bed
And to the Holy Ghost you too have lied
When she heard this, she also fell down and died,
and got buried next to her husband alongside
Evil infectious greed
can't be allowed to grow in the field of the righteous
God said: Separate the wheat from the weeds;
it's evident, the wicked can't live amongst the just
The plain truth is, they never really were one of us
