Indian Summer

~indian summer~

indian summer
apple crisp yawning first light ~
  amber moonrise nights

cozy mellow sunshine
 warm pumpkin spice afternoons ~
  yellow cornfields doze

sleepy vineyards dream
reveries of maize and gold ~
  twilight lullabies

drowsy fields of wheat
harvest glows in pumpkin hues ~
  autumn’s balmy breath

Hi David! Thank you so much! I am so glad you enjoyed these haikus! That really brings me joy. I love the transition of Indian summer from summer to fall. I guess Mother Nature lets us down slowly from summer fun. So grateful for your message. Have been enjoying writing haiku. All the best!

I like these Haiku. They are so descriptive of this time of year and on into October. I enjoyed reading this contest entry today. Reads like a good contender to me. Way to go. Sara

Jan thank you so much. I have such strong memories of lazy fall afternoons walking home after school. Had a wonderful time putting those feelings of mellow afternoons and harvest moons into haiku. So happy you enjoyed this string. Thank you for sharing these sleepy afternoons with me. Harvest hugs! :)

Heidi, I am indeed honored by your fav. Thank you. So happy you loved this haiku string. I love the round mellowness of autumn when the light lengthens and the twilight deepens. Your apple crisp sounds yummy! My husband made a green apple Dutch baby this morning - so fall! Enjoy this wonderful season. Sending blessings of autumn.
