India Rises
From the balcony
India rises
yet modern
her vast horizon
steel stained
metal tendrils
far reaching.
From my window
palaces do not
stretch far
temples fall
out of line
I fix on
you.
From the sofa
your gaze
rests on nothing
specifically
and on me
purposefully.
From my window
India is not
without me
she is
within me
my words cling
to heavy air
I cannot kiss
her from my view.
