Independent Woman

She smiles upon coated slate. Her skeletons become coagulated whispers Of yesterday Another blissful awakening This shedding of redemptions’ sin Under elastic dialects Closure within ephemeral slow dances Irregular beats of her drum Now Steadfast acoustic riffs Forge constellations' new tomorrow As she swims through cashmere laden sands Without the need to float On dependency’s raft ©Drake J. Hi Drake; I hope you are doing good, I'm still hanging in there. I had not been around because I was locked out Of Poetry Soup for 6 days. They just let me back in. I had to read this poem, since I have always been a very independent woman. Enjoyed it very much. Thanks for sharing..... Lucilla

This almost felt like you where describing music. Mind you each woman is unique and beautiful like a song. I enjoyed your poem Drake, mind you that is not unusual. Have a great day Drake. You remind me of the Song Handy Man, all the girls are gathering around and a few of us fellows are looking for pointers.

Good, at least you can value & appreciate my approach to the message. I don't cater to shortcuts in my style. There are too many of those in life today anyway, causing it to spoil some folks. For me, unwrap the gift, unwrap the layers, slowly. Thank you so much for this, Cherie. FYI, I could NEVER solve a Rubiks Cube. lol

Wow..This poem is very deep..Its like a continuation of your previous poem..The IR regular heartbeat..the whispers in yesterday..The redemption of sin...So deep these thoughts. The ephmeral dance like a short lived sand wish and then towards the end-To swim through cashmere laden sands without the need of that raft.I guess that would be an independent woman indeed....Though that raft..She might be grateful for it...Excellent dream of non independent women penned.Love the voice echoeing.

I love the following line, "AS she swims through cashmere laden sands" That is so descriptive and perfect for the description of this woman! She is truly special, I wonder if you met her would you date her? She is quite unique and beautifully put together...it's like you pieced together an special woman, I love this poem my friend! Great Work!!

I definitely would date her. There are things that turn me off. One of those things is a lady who won't stand up for herself. Because, to me, that tells me that we would be able to push each other through the hard times. There would be no fear or uncertainty that "love" would become one-sided. Many thanks, Russell! I'm glad you're feeling better!
