Incy Wincy Spider

'The incy wincy spider went up the waterspout, Down came the rain and washed the spider out, Out came the sun and dried up all the rain, And the incy wincy spider went up the spout again'. Now here is the thing you should know by now, There is always more to the story somehow, And Incy Wincy’s no exception to that rule, So here’s what they never told us in school. Now when Incy Wincy grew to be much older, The hourglass on her back became a little bolder, Then one fine day from the web where she lay, She asked Mr. spider to come over and play. I’ll guarantee a fine dinner I’ll make, And a few liberties I might just let you take, When he moved in for a hug, she held him tight, He soon realized something wasn’t quite right. It is true that beauty is only skin deep, Deception is an art that some people keep, So if you rush into a relationship too fast, You might just find that it isn’t going to last. ****

how creative and clever, Jerry! I enjoyed the lighthearted read with wisdom at the very end. Deception is an art that some people do keep. Enjoy your day, Sara

I really like this one, Jerry. "Refurbishing" these ditties is one of my favorite writing pastimes. I have found it very interesting since I started writing that so many of these so-called "children's verses and stories" have a much darker side.

So true Jim. Most are dark and scary. Filled with murder, theft, or even worse.

The days of courting as my parents called is much shorter now days, maybe that is one of the reasons many do not last like they did back in the day. I am undecided if the spider in your poem ate her mate lol, either way it seems it didn't last. Emilia : )

In the poem, the Black Widow did eat her mate. It's a good things we humans are more civilized. We only lie, cheat and steal.
