Your incandescence drew me to your flame Moth-like, I gravitated to your light Then feigning nonchalance, I asked your name The music of your voice set me to flight And added several inches to my height When you inquired of my name I saw stars Stellar arrays beyond Venus or Mars Puncturing through the thick shroud of the mask I use to hide my stories and memoirs My lady! All you had to do was ask! written 18 Aug 2020

Your romantic poems are always so lovely, but I really like this one, especially 'the music of your voice' and the last line, so whimsical and joyful-

A beautiful romance! All she had to do was ask! Great, the reluctance to ask has been the common theme of lost love!

A beautiful incandescence it is! Seems an allusion to Phantom of the Opera - a favorite! I hope you check out mine, by the same name :)

Kim, I've never seen the Phantom of the Opera, but if/when I get around to it I will be sure to look for that similarity. I'm off to read your Incandescence now, thanks for the tip! ~ John

Well, John, that kind of romance would sweep me away. This is very well written, and I especially thought the last line was an excellent ending.
