In Your House I Long To Be
I see your house in my mind's eye,
I wonder if you hear me sigh,
every room I tip-toe through,
holds memories of me & you.
Your crystal windows strung with beads,
white snow stacked on black-limbed trees,
the scent of fresh baked bread and jam,
as I float by, a hologram.
And on my deathbed, silently,
I'll pray to all the gods that be,
to take me to that place I know,
though I was there so long ago.
There I'll sit, not flesh and bone,
forever together, forever alone,
for now, I just wait patiently,
'til I go where I long to be.
(for my cousin, Irene, in idyllic Switzerland)
