Notes About The Poem

In With the New

We don’t need guns, knives,
fists, or words to wound people.
A flag will suffice.
Our state flag was divisive.
The new one is for us ALL.

I know the confederate flag was like a swastika to many. We need to put history behind us and move forward, Tom

Ever watch honeybees pollinate a magnolia blossom? Sometimes it takes two or more to pluck off a stalk so they can harvest the nectar! Busy bees are also hard workers! I do remember Mississippi, as I was banned from the Biloxi/Gulfport bus system for offering my seat to a pregnant woman of colour, so I hope your flag brings more pleasant memories! Aloha! Rico

Uh, no. I'll add watching honeybees pollinate a magnolia blossom to my really long list of things I've never seen. You were right to offer the lady your seat--and were punished for your kindness. I DO think this new flag will make a positive difference. THANKS, Rico! Janice
