In Times Like These
Oh, Sun
Cast hopefulness
On these gray days of life
Presenting so many unknowns-
Brighten
These times of personal distress
of lockdown and sad deaths-
Squelch Covid with
Your rays.
Oh, Sun
Streets are so bare
Parks and schools are empty
Churches and theaters shut down-
We miss
Gathering with kinfolk and friends
Shopping at stores and malls
Great restaurants-
Our jobs.
Oh, Sun
With burning beams
Please lay waste this virus
That invades our lives so deeply-
Return
Our privilege to hug loved ones
Take back the life we knew-
Bring hope to each
New day.
