In the shadows of a lost cause, I lingered

In the shadows of a lost cause, I lingered,
Yearning for moments that slipped away,
Selfishly trying to grasp one more second with you,
Knowing well the folly of such desires.
Now alone, the world takes on a sinister hue,
Relationships left uncharted, untended,
Fearful of the wounds that might come,
When vulnerability meets the sharp edge of reality.
And yet with you, everything was different,
I bared my soul, let you see the real me,
Became too dependent, too attached,
Unable to deny the pain of your absence.
Your words echo in my mind,
The way you painted my world with warmth,
A singular presence in the vastness,
A toxic entanglement, perhaps,
But better than facing the void alone.
Now you've departed,
And though solitude doesn't sting,
There is an emptiness, a hollow echo,
Of a connection once cherished,
Now lost in the silence of goodbye.
I was enveloped in the shadows of a lost cause, wandering,
Yearning for those moments that melted away in time, like morning dew,
Reaching out selfishly, trying to grasp one more second with you,
Aware of the madness of these unfulfilled desires.
Now, alone in this world that has lost its color,
My relationships, left like unknown maps, untended,
I fear the wounds that might come,
When vulnerability meets the sharp edge of reality.
But with you, everything was different,
I bared my soul, let you see the real me,
I became dependent, too attached,
Unable to deny the pain of your absence.
Your words, an echo in my mind,
The way you painted my world with the warmth of your smile,
A unique presence in the vastness of existence,
A toxic entanglement, perhaps,
But better than facing the void alone.
Now you have left,
And though solitude doesn't sting,
There is an emptiness, a hollow echo,
Of a connection once cherished,
Now lost in the silence of goodbye.
In these melancholic shadows, I lose myself,
The city's lights now seem like pale ghosts,
Every street, every corner, a memento of your presence,
A dance of shadows and light, an unfinished story.
In this deep silence, I listen to my heart,
Each beat an echo of your name,
And in this empty space, wrapped in memories,
I try to find solace, to find meaning,
Knowing that, although you have gone,
A part of you will always remain with me,
In those precious moments, in those stolen seconds,
That will shine like stars in the night of eternity.
