In the Potter's Hands- Prayer
Dear God,
Hey its me... again
This time things have got a lot worse
Sorry I haven’t prayed in...sorry I haven’t prayed.
Everything seems to be due;
Phone, water, electricity, gas.
I don't know.
I didn’t get through the interview last week
And I really had my heart set on that job
I can’t send the kids on that school trip either
And apparently they’re getting teased about it at school
I had an argument with my friend yesterday
And I said something really bad,
I’m so sorry
Oh and you know those choir rehearsals
at church? Don’t really wanna talk about it but apparently, I can’t sing
I guess what I’m trying to say is that I feel worthless
And so lonely
Nothing is right
I feel like the clay in the potters hands but instead
Of moulding I’m being pounded
Sometimes it feels like you’re not there, I thought you knew me.
N.B. I wrote this and used it as an intro in an uplifting drama/dance piece I did at
my church years ago. It represents real prayer; a one to one with God, the real
problems we face and sometimes the lack of hope we feel sometime when we
believe that He is not there when He is, we're just in the Potter's Hands, getting
moulded.
