In the Misty Theme

And sometimes, in the misty theme, comes the downing of tools When the twilight rain drizzles in its bereavement, As a curtain falling on the last encore of a play, And all that remains to dwell upon is past achievement. Time is looking back on the years and passion past, Whilst there stretches like a golden coast the future yet to be, And sometimes, in the misty theme, comes the picking up of threads And the plotlines of the dreams of wonders yet to see. And sometimes, in the misty theme, comes the leaving of friends When the calm unbroken seas glint beyond the valley walls Where horizons sprawl uncharted in their distant view, And where the siren of eternity mellifluously calls. Now is looking forward to the treasures yet to come, And the visions of a destiny proclaimed by hidden days, And sometimes, in the misty theme, burns the second light of life, For a world as yet unfathomed in her grand mysterious ways.
