In the Midst of Depression

Every day I try to pretend
All is well that’s what I intend
As I wear this mask of deception
I hide the hurt that triggers depression

The emptiness inside my heart
Causes my mind to fall slowly apart
The pain and sorrow are much to bear
Not knowing how long will I despair

On lonely nights I cried until I slept
Still I hang on to little hope that’s left
I pray for strength as I always do
Believing that God will see me through

And as I undergo the depths of life
Hope will keep my will to survive

A sad sonnet and yet so hopeful. I'm sure many people may relate to this, certainly I do. Welcome to Soup Elaine.
