I'm okay, you're okay is a mask in the land of pretend. Only by removing it will a heart and soul ever mend. If you would dispose of your mask, I will do the same, then we'll no longer need to point a finger of blame. We've both been hiding behind one, concealing pain. You see my eyes are red from tears that fell like rain. I've kept you from seeing my frown by hiding my lips, but I've longed to untie your veil with my fingertips. Keeping my emotions hidden has been a poor disguise. I've been a captain whose ship was starting to capsize. It's finally time we end the facade and reveal our faces, for these disguises have been shielding what fear abases.

a powerful and motivating poem, Lin! You've shared so much about the negative impact of wearing a mask to protect one's self and one's emotions. Relationships decay in those situations. You explained it perfectly. Plus, the rhyme scheme created a smooth cadence, allowing your words to flow effortlessly. Am faving this one, Sara

I’m very pleased to read your review. Sara. Your insight mirrors my own. There is nothing to be gained and much to lose by donning a disguise. Thanks, Sara.

Great, Lin! Favorite lines: I've kept you from seeing my frown by hiding my lips, but I've longed to untie your veil with my fingertips.

Thought provoking piece Lin I think all of us wear 'masks' at times and it can be difficult to let down our guard for fear of hurt. I know that humour is my own 'mask' :-) hugs jan xx

Your mask cannot hide your good heart, Jan. You are a wonderful friend who’d do anything for those in need. Thank you for being such an encouragement to me in so many ways.
