I'm okay, you're okay is a mask in the land of pretend.
Only by removing it will a heart and soul ever mend.
If you would dispose of your mask, I will do the same,
then we'll no longer need to point a finger of blame.
We've both been hiding behind one, concealing pain.
You see my eyes are red from tears that fell like rain.
I've kept you from seeing my frown by hiding my lips,
but I've longed to untie your veil with my fingertips.
Keeping my emotions hidden has been a poor disguise.
I've been a captain whose ship was starting to capsize.
It's finally time we end the facade and reveal our faces,
for these disguises have been shielding what fear abases.
