In the Garden
I sit alone in the garden,
Pausing life to listen closely,
To hear without trying to hear,
To watch without expectation
And from the stillness of my mind,
I drink deeply from the cup of life,
Sipping Nature's sweet nectar,
Until I feel my senses heightened
Here I unlearn my human ways,
And drown the sounds of modern life,
To feel the presence of a thousand beings,
So long forgotten or ignored
And as the stillness then gives way,
To a grand chaotic symphony,
Eventually I come to see,
I'm not alone in the garden.
