In the Fields
I can smell the fresh mint,
In the fields by the pond,
I can see your shining face,
Your hair bleached to blonde.
The water dancing on your skin,
As we swam the day away,
The clouds we watched passing by,
As we lay on our backs that day.
Nighttime again,
And the stars like jewels in the sky,
No sooner had we fallen asleep,
The night had passed us by.
Bright sunshine is cast into the room,
A new day had begun,
Already my mind was thinking,
What there had to be done.
I would watch you dance,
With a ribbon in your hair,
Your movements smooth and graceful,
As you twirled through the air.
It is in a dream world,
That we have become friends,
The world around us falls apart,
But our happiness never ends.
I hope the years will be kind,
When I have to leave this place,
But I will always remember,
The sweet smile on your face.
We have shared timeless youth,
In the fields by the pond,
I can see your shining face,
Your hair bleached to blonde.
