In the Days Ahead

She sits in the company of herself,
In the ambience of the morning light,
Reading and meditating on
the words from the sacred book,
She pauses a while to watch the birds,
They perch on the tree
and preen on their feathers,
They are a lovely sight to
 watch in their various colours,
She believes they're harbingers of good fortune,
She takes a walk down memory lane,
When they sat side by side
 savouring refreshing times,
She missed him so much,
She wished nightfall wore no cloak.

Well written, my friend. Many are burdened by a sadness they carry with them everywhere that even darkens the edges of their brightest days.
