In the Company of Fishes
In depths of silence on the ocean’s
bed, they sleep,
While ships and boats noisily, above
they creep,
Under the waters, undisturbed,
a school of Rainbows dazzles with
colours of orange, blue and gold,
And a shoal of Angels in regal flair
unfolds.
In the depths of the deep blue, where
secrets and treasures reside,
A striped Clown and a colourful Parrot
side by side they glide,
A school of tiny silver swimmers suddenly
dashed by as if in a race,
A fleeting glimpse of those dazzling
beauties, in a flash, no ripples, no bubbles,
no trace.
In this realm of giant kelps and coral
mazes dwell an abundance of vibrant,
shiny scales darting and twirling, each
a dancing gem,
To escape and forget reality, I could
sit quietly for hours watching them,
When I close my eyes, my spirit leaps,
for in the company of fishes, there’s
tranquillity and peace,
In my memory, these unique and
beautiful images I will forever keep.
To see such a beautiful show is a rare
and a once-in-a-lifetime lucky chance.
How nice it would be if we could take
a whispered vow,
To save and protect these precious
swimmers in the here and now.
