In the Carnival of Life

Life is just a carnival,
Days and nights go by, paving the way
For humans to walk on its ramp,
Boasting of what they are supposedly made of
And showcasing a pretentious stance,
Thereby suggesting that sparkles and twinkles
Are all that which life is about!

Pray, those who refuse to participate
Get snobbed, mocked at and rebuked
As if, they were mere zoo animals
Kept in cages, meant to entertain
Those who give the most entertaining
Show of themselves!

Life is just a carnival,
Previously, I used to stand on the sidewalks,
With my heart kept hidden in my cloak, watching
Everything with a sullen look
But, since some time, I have chosen to remove my cloak
And to reveal my heart to everyone,
As, it would seem, that that's exactly what Life wanted!
