In the Alley

There was no grand sunset
painting the sky with
orange and pink hues.
no stars shining down
from Heaven,
no moon to light the way
to salvation
no one to pray for his soul
in the cold and dark
as he lay down
closed his eyes
and said goodbye
to the memories

I think, to die alone, is the greatest fear for many of us. Sadly, so many people in this crowded world will do just that. I am reminded of the Covid years when even family and friends could only watch from behind a glass while their loved ones lay dying. Sorry for the melancholy ramble, my friend. Have a wonderful day and thank you for your beautiful comment.
