In the Absence of Strength
wish i had the strength
to lift a corner of this sweet-sweet land
shake out all these jugular biting fire ants
send them into the cold and salty depths
these disgruntled -ungrateful chronic complainers
clawing and crying for more while giving less..less
suckling dry the breast of our sweet lady liberty..
then spitting milky opportunity and the honey of success
back into her weary-starry eyes..
wish i had the strength
to lift a corner of this sweet- sweet land
