In That Familiar Dark
Walk into a dark room
familiar by memory
but shock by sight
in reaching for a light switch
a glare catches your eye
you study the image quickly
hoping to God it's just a game
the suspense is killing you
as you pray it's all the same
The light flash on
then quickly out
but too late, you'd already seen
and whatever his intentions
you hope they aren't mean.
