In Silence

In Silence, eyes close
Tears stained my face.
Feeling empty and alone
I told you It was ok for you to go
To gain peace yet again
No more torment, pride restored
You lay there without a word
What once was strong is now fragile
The ailment has grabbed hold
Staring into the distance, eyes void
Brother, what mysteries do you behold?
Joel, wake from your rest
I touch your face, my hands tremble.
What was once handsome is now sallow
Anguish within me is great.
Not allowing you to see my face,
I rest my head upon your chest.
I love you I whisper
Your breathing is rough
I hear the pulsing of your heart
I know you are with me.
In a strained voice, you said "I Love You," then no more.
My heart leaped, have my ears deceived me
Your heart beats slower
And breathing becomes pallid.
Something is wrong I called.
I stay close, while your love lay there holding you.
Have my eyes have deceived me?
I watch your soul leave your body
Your spirit hovered for a moment then takes flight
In Silence, I closed my eyes.I love you I whisper Goodbye.
