In September
In the hued month of September
When the sun begins to wane
The world is filled with splendor
And the earth is bathed in flame
The leaves begin to turn
From green to gold and red
And the air is crisp and clear
As summer days have fled
The harvest moon shines brightly
In the velvet night sky
A symbol of the season
As the days go flying by
The fields are full of bounty
And the orchards ripe with fruit
As farmers work the land
Their labors bearing loot
The children go back to school
Their minds hungry for knowledge
As they learn and grow and play
In the crisp September college
The animals prepare
For the coming winter cold
Gathering food and shelter
Before the weather takes its hold
So let us raise our voices
In a song of thanks and praise
For the beauty of September
In its golden, autumn haze
For as the days grow shorter
And the nights grow long and chill
We know that soon will come
The winter's icy thrill
But for now let us revel
In September's warm embrace
And cherish every moment
Before it's gone without a trace
