In Peril of Life and Limb

In peril of life and limb while salt sea Flamed with white wrath of sun, we fled hist'ry's fault Leaving depleted islands to cry. We, Mirage of colonial dream, our vault Rifted of resources followed like fools The pied piper of our stolen wealth, are Now come face to face with minotaur rules Building kingdom again without a star. And what shall these picket fences keep out Shall they klansmen councils of fire deflame Or expunge the ancient and nagging doubt Whether our manhood has value the same? I who have traveled the same sea now twice Shall not retreat nor die by being nice.

I had to read it twice to get the meter right nevertheless emotionally stirring. A very sad tale of unwanted exile from a stolen home. You have a way of moving me.

I especially like the last five lines..Not sure exactly what you wanted to convey but enjoyed reading your work..My heart was gladden by your reading and commenting on my work..A Garr is a fish but I misspelled it..It is spelled Gar..It was a cloud that was very whispy that looked like a Gar then the movement in the upper atmosphere sheered it away...Sara
