In our spirited worship for the Lord, we are ushered to seek His face While abiding in His truth and grace Since He secures us upon His compassion-brace Despite attacking fears, smeared with doubts’ trace. In our spirited worship for the Lord, we are led to His light While resolved to do what is scripturally right Since He guides with His wisdom’s might Despite struggles against sins’ blight. In our spirited worship for the Lord, we are sanctified toward holiness While allowing Him to check our motives along standards of biblical godliness Since He searches our sincerity’s earnestness Despite hypocrisy lurking in the guise of glory-seeking meekness. In our spirited worship for the Lord, we are taught to offer our thanksgiving While praising Him for blessings we are receiving Since He delights in our devoted loving Despite hardships midst our commitment-striving. In our spirited worship for the Lord, we are encouraged to render our best While pleasing Him with faith’s fullest Since He deserves our utmost finest Despite pressures of every test. In our spirited worship for the Lord, we are upheld by His mercy While choosing to cleave to Him with fervency For He supplies us well by His contentment sufficiency Despite scarcity’s frequency. In our spirited worship* for the Lord, we are enabled by His partnership While fulfilling entrusted tasks in our stewardship For He cheers us around His sweet fellowship Despite conflicts in human carnal relationship.
*John 4:24 God is a Spirit: and they that worship him must worship him in spirit and in truth. August 15, 2020 Honorable Mention, "STRAND COMPLETELY NEW (22) ,any form, any theme" Poetry Contest; Sponsored by Brian Strand; judged on 8/15/2020.
