In My Hands

You are a fire in my hands
Guarding me from the dark
And keeping me warm
And even as the flames leap
Higher, I'll blow gently
Encouraging the flames
Ever hotter
Because I love to see
The pretty colors
And even when my palms
Burn and blister
I can't bear to see the
Light fade, because
Perhaps the dark
Was painless
But only because
I felt nothing at all
