In My Garden
I saw the bees
Take nectar from the trees
Their pollen sacks
Matching the hue
Of a tree I planted
In the autumn dew
Now stands proudly aloft
Shading the pansies
Towering over the forget-me-nots
Then a turn of my head
There I was greeted
By bluebells, in their lilac beds.
Then in chimes the sparrow
And a twitter from a parakeet
I joined the conversation
My interpretation of bird speak
In tuneful whistles I did reply
As I watched in disgust
The cat chasing a butterfly
Then the thunderous honking
As a crows cries
Chasing the sparrow
As it raced across the sky
Ghaa Ghaa that horrible sound
Fearing it would die
Then the rasp from my boorbell
The peace I no longer share
I am drawn from nature
There is a human at my door
Life has cast its spell
Fast paced diversion
Wondering, what the heck?
Glacing through my window
Whatever had disturbed me
Was no longer there!
So I returned to nature
The one I always like to share
Of animal, plants and insects
Enjoying it, with good cheer
The amber nectar beside me
Neither red nor pink
For my rose' is blooming
As the sun is rising
Then I stopped to think
How many of us are in wild rushes
With no time to blink
When nature is calling?
To soothe our egos,
To ease our stress.
But how much do we invest?
Our eyes, time, and patience,
And stay in touch!
So in the fresh of the summers morning
I feel so blessed.
So whatever your options
Stay close to a garden,
There are many living things there.
And we preserve nature
When we truly care.
Cheers.
