In My Blood
Within my blood it lives, that DNA
that shaped my need to draw at age of three-
for what would so inspire a child so young
to be obsessed with sketching constantly.
Within my blood it lives, that DNA
that shaped my need to write rhymed poetry.
As a young child, no help, just by myself,
emotions deep inside stirred words for me.
Within my blood was strength in DNA,
for later it was passed genetically.
Two daughters with amazing skills in art:
one granddaughter, an artist truly blessed;
the other, English major at her school,
directs its poetry society.
Within my blood it lives, that DNA
that helped shape me, my children and their own.

Contest: Poem Of The Day
Sponsor: Richard Lamoureux
Judged: 04/25/2019
I chose this poem since it one of only two of my poems
ever presented as 'poem of the day' since I joined PS,
in June 2014, and because it is meaningful to me and
a tribute to my creative family.
