I am wearing my red white and blue stars jacket.
It is totally patriotic, and this is Veteran’s Day.
A bunch of children have spotted my daughter’s picture in military uniform.
One asks me “is she still alive?”
She was this morning when she asked me not to text her at five a.m. I replied.
How old is she? One of them asks. She looks old – seventeen.
She is forty-nine and a half, but I look at her photo.
She was twenty-two I say. Not willing to tell them her current age.
It is difficult to be forty when you have a forty-nine-year-old daughter.
